Funding

The World Martial Arts Games receives its funding from a variety of resources. Our funding programs are broken down into the following categories:

Funding of the World Martial Arts Games Committee
Funding of the Games
Charity

Funding of the WMAGC

The World Martial Arts Games Committee is a non-profit organization with a goal to unite the world of martial arts through annual competition. Our goal is to minimize our expenses in order that we can use excess proceeds from our annual events to assist our developing members with their National Martial Arts Programs.

The 2006 World Martial Arts Games Committee (WMAGC) is comprised of the initial founders of the movement, who have provided the seed capital which has allowed the organization to move ahead. The 2006 WMAGC is determined to limit the amount of expenses incurred during our inaugural year. It is anticipated that in our first year of operation more than 250 volunteers around the world will have contributed tens of thousands of hours to make the 2006 World Martial Arts Games a success.

After August 21, 2006, a newly elected body will take over the executive role, establishing an international office from which the business of the games can carry on. This new administration will continue to limit expenses in order that we can achieve our overall goals. The new administration will also seek out more sponsorship opportunities.

Funding of the Games

The World Martial Arts Games obtain their funding through sponsorship programs, ticketing, game’s registration fees and broadcast networks. The responsibility of raising capital for these events is bestowed upon the host country, who establishes a Hosting Committee that reports to the WMAGC. Proper expense controls are required to be in place and once all expenses have been paid, a Financial report is prepared with any excess proceeds paid to the WMAGC for future considerations.

Sponsors of the games receive many benefits including the exposure one receives from:

  • An annual major event: - According to recent data, in 2005 there were more than 18 million people involved in martial arts activities in the United States alone
  • High-level international profile: - More than 20 member nations and growing
  • A large volunteer organization: - more than 200 volunteers worldwide
  • Major media outlets including: - Newspaper - Television - Radio

Charity

Financial sponsors of the games can take comfort in knowing that our overall goal is to promote the benefits of martial arts sport throughout the world. Excess proceeds are used to sponsor national martial arts programs in developing nations through our Sponsor-A-Nation program.
